Scriptable is an automation tool that allows users to write scripts that integrate with native features of iOS, such as files, calendars, reminders, and documents.

An extensive widget support feature enables users to create their own widgets using JavaScript and run the scripts on their Home Screen. These widgets can display any data and can be customized to fit the user's preferences.

Siri Shortcuts functionality allows users to present images, tables, and more in Siri, as well as have Siri read aloud a text when a script is executed through a Siri Shortcut.

The app also offers a growing gallery of scripts to help users get started with Scriptable. Some examples of scripts that can be created include asking Siri about the status of a web service, creating a widget that shows data from a weather station, managing calendar events, checking TV schedules, managing a movie watchlist, uploading files to an image optimizer, receiving weather reports as notifications, creating pre-filled todos in a favorite todo app using URL schemes, and more.

The key features of Scriptable include the ability to write and run JavaScript code with autocomplete suggestions for variables, functions, keywords, and properties. Users can access various native iOS features within their JavaScript code, such as managing files, calendars, reminders, contacts, photos, location services, and web views. The app supports the creation of custom widgets that can run on the Home Screen without requiring users to open the app. Siri Shortcuts allow for rich interactions with Siri, including presenting images, tables, websites, HTML content, and reading aloud text. Users can schedule notifications to run scripts periodically. The app also provides features like working with files and directories from third-party apps using File Bookmarks, synchronizing scripts across devices using iCloud Drive, browsing scripts as plain JavaScript files in the Files app, assigning glyphs and colors to scripts for easy identification, running scripts on the Lock Screen and Home Screen using widgets, executing scripts through 3D touch on the app icon, running scripts from the share sheet and processing inputs, running scripts directly from notifications, supporting URL schemes for integration with other apps, exporting and sharing scripts, providing example scripts for beginners, extensive documentation for all native APIs available in the app (offline and online), viewing documentation in a separate window on iPad, dark mode support, and customizable editor preferences.
